A PARENT'S GUIDE TO THE MARINE CORPS

In the Marines, mental aptitude is just as important as physical ability. Problem solving and the ability to think and act quickly is key.

In preparation for becoming a Marine, your young person should develop a pattern of good study habits. Mental discipline and scholastic success make for successful Marines, and accomplished students can go far in the Marine Corps.

Your son or daughter should also prepare now for the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB). This is a test that determines who is qualified to enlist in the Marines. Those who receive high scores dramatically increase the chances of being assigned to a particular or desired specialty.
