Women in the Corps
In 1918, Mrs. Opha Johnson became the first woman Marine. Since then, there have been thousands of female Marines, each with the same courage, determination and honor of their male counterparts. With the exception of engaging in offensive combat, women in the Marine Corps have exactly the same opportunities for advancement and growth as male Marines.
